I'm going to start posting a few diaries of my darts sessions.

Hopefully it will enable me to improve (Lots of work to do there then lol)

Had a terrible season this year with one thing or another. Not been able to practice for over 6 months and this has certainly taken its toll on my abilities this year. I usually practice when I get in from work for at least an hour or two every day and maybe longer at weekends. However, my daughter moved back in after seperating from her hubby, so my games room became a spare bedroom and the darts went downhill from there.

Starting getting a bit of a thrashing in the league most weeks and this is very frustrating, knowing that I am usually a player the opposition least want to be drawn against. Sadly when the opposition say "Thats the worst I have ever seen you play" seriously makes you realise how much your game has deteriorated.

Ok - Today I managed to find a new home for my dartboard.

I have mounted it (I'm always very fussy with my measurements) so this took a little time.

Everything looks spot on. I could do with a new spotlot, but apart from that its looking good.

Had a short setion with my son who also plays for the team, so hopefully with a lot of practice we should sart seing some improvement.

Got a few weeks before the new season starts so plenty of time to whip myself back into shape.

Hi trev good luck with your darts.Just like anything in life if you stop practising for a while you tend to get worse.I hope you get back to playing as you normally do and frighten the opposition.I used to play errrr many moons ago lol.Never good enough to be in a team but it was fun.My only downfall for me,apart from being useless lol,was that i couldn't and still can't count. So the days before those computer add up thingys on the wall was blackboard and chalk. It tests a freindship when you are continually asking what someone has left lol. That's why i'm so bad at poker,i don't know the maths lol.Anyway good luck in your new season.I will give you one tip.Don't drink 20 pints before you play, do it afterwards lol.

Hi JJ
To be honest with you, my darts knickname is "3 Pints Trev" cause they recon I am usually rubbish until i've had 3 pints lol. Hope thats not goin to be the case this season Smile

Practice Practice Preactice

Had a session with my son & one of my m8's sunday dinner time, here is the result.......

Trev = 10 Legs
My Son = 4 Legs
My M8 = 4 Legs

So against the average player, I would say i'm not so bad, but against a league player, I look very ordinary at best atm.

Ok - I'm now getting some regular practice in on the dart board.

Get in from work, then have half an hour or so whilst i'm waiting for my tea. Also getting the odd session in when i'm at a loose end.

I think the more I keep at it the better I will be able to perform at the start of the new season, certainly will give me a confidence boost.

Had a few more hours of practice over the last few days.

The treble 20 is getting ever so closer Smile

Seem to be hitting my doubles ok at the mo, but still need to improve if i'm to kick some butt next season.

Had a decent session on the dart board Sunday dinner time.

Managed to with 7 games after being 3-0 down - Final score 7-4.

We played 301, double start, double finish and I managed a 160 break wiiiiiiii.

Stll a few weeks before the start of a new season, so plenty of time to get some more practice in.

You must have a very understanding family to be able to dedicate so much time to darts and poker. I can't say that darts is something that interests me these days but I was an avid watcher in the days of Wilson and Bristow and a few of us would play in the pub quite regularly. These days I can't even hold a dart because of the Arthritis. So good luck with your practice sessions and maybe you can reach the dizzy heights you once played at.

I've been married for 25 years dagg, theres not much left to understand lol.

It's quite easy to juggle a few things as long as it don't upset or annoy anyone. I work hard during the week in my business. I have a dart board set up in the house so I practice darts for 1 hour before Tea/supper. Monday Night is DTD Night, Thursdays are Darts Night & Sundays are for a my dinner time drink and relaxation.

If the weather is nice at weekends, then its the gardening & DIY Jobs during the day (That gets me a few Brownie Points) and then I get the evenings to myself for a bit of poker.

I really need to find a bit more enthusiasm for the darts this season though otherwise I think it may be my last.

The new darts season starts tomorrow (Thursday) 1st League game of the season, so i'm hoping to start fresh with enthusiasm.

Practice has been going ok, but still nowhere near my best so i'm hoping to improve once the season is unserway.

We have new shirts this season too, so if nothing else, at least we will look like a darts team lol.

Wish me luck.

So for the 2nd week in a row of the new darts season - I have lost my singles match and gone on to win my doubles match sigh

I played really well in the singles hitting 2 x 140, which were withing a whisker of a 180 a couple of 125's a 121, 3 x 100 and plenty of 60's but to no avail as my opponent always stayed just that little bit in front of me. I had my shot at the double in both legs, but missed and then my oppo finished it off both times at his next visit.

Getting closer to winning, getting closer to playing good darts and getting very close to hitting a 180.

Better luck next week - More practice required Smile

So we are 8 weeks into the new season and i've had my ups and downs........

Started the season really well (Not winning) but playing pretty good darts. However. I have noticed since I started taking my blood pressure tablets again I seem to be losing the plot on the oche......for no reason what so ever I find I am unable to focus on the board and I am very hypertensive.

Its a tough one............

If I don't take them for a few weeks my blood pressure rises but my darts improve.
If I do take them my blood pressure is normal, but I am unable to control what I think is probably just an addrenilyn rush (I will look into it)

Anyway thats aout it for now - will have to just keep at it I suppose.

Played 7 won 3 lost 4
